Reagan Reflects on Boonville 1974 State Championship Run

The 1974 Boonville football team will be enshrined into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame this November. The Pirates went undefeated at 11-0 and captured the state championship. Coach Gene Reagan says one player knew the title would happen before the season started.

Boonville defeated Washington 34-14 in a state title game that was nearly called off due to snow.

The title game was a scoreless tie at halftime before Reagan and the Pirates implemented an offense they had not tried before.

The state championship was the first in Boonville school history. Reagan says it was special for the school and community.

The Pirates averaged 49.6 points a game, allowed just 10.3 points a contest, and shattered 16 individual school records and six team school records.
