Randolph County Health Department Board Looking At Solid Waste Ordinance

The Randolph County Health Department Board continues to seek counsel from attornies regarding the new county solid waste ordinance. A proposed animal waste facility near Jacksonville prompted the Randolph County Commission to pass a solid waste ordinance last month. Health Department Adminstrator Sharon Whisenand shares the Commission’s concerns.

The ordinance prohibits any solid waste dumping site from being within one mile of a residence and cannot be less than two miles from a city or village. Whisenand isn’t sure who enforces such an ordinance.

Whisenand says the Health Department continues to be in communication with the County Commission.

Whisenand was our guest on the KWIX Doctors Office program yesterday.

The Randolph County Health Department will have a drive-thru COVID booster clinic on Monday, from 1 until 5, at their parking lot. You can get paperwork filled out in advance by going to the Department’s website.
