Putnam County's Historic Senior Class Prepares for Another First-time State Appearance

Putnam County boys basketball makes its first Show-Me Showdown appearance Friday. Much of the team’s senior-heavy roster starred for Putnam’s first-ever semifinal baseball squad in the spring. Coach Kyle Fleshman evaluates hoops opposition Bernie.

24-2 Putnam County beat Sacred Heart 70-65 in overtime in the school’s first-ever quarterfinal. Fleshman says the Midgets plan to utilize a similar strategy against the 28-1 Mules.

Bernie secured second place in each of its previous four trips to the Show-Me Showdown. Coach Jason Long indicates the Mules matured through a four-point sectional win and an overtime triumph in the quarterfinals.
