Putnam County Baseball and Softball Fields to Receive Upgrades

Athletic facilities in the Putnam County School District are currently receiving significant upgrades. New turf is currently being installed on the high school football field. The track is receiving a new coat of paint and new high jump and pole vault pits will be put in. Putnam County’s baseball and softball facilities are also set to receive upgrades. Putnam County Athletic Director Andrew Garber details the improvements to the softball field.

With fall sports practices just over a month away the focus is on getting the football and softball improvements done first. Garber adds that allows them more time to plan out the improvements to the baseball facility.

The improvement project isn’t just limited to Putnam County’s athletic facilities. Garber adds the school facilities are also receiving upgrades over the coming months.

Funds for the Putnam School District improvement project come primarily from Proposition 2, a no tax increase bond issue voters passed this past spring. The district was also able to leverage some COVID-19 relief funds for the project.
