Putnam County Athletics to Benefit from Turf Project

This past spring, voters approved the Putnam County School District’s no tax increase bond issue known as Proposition 2. Money from the bond is going towards significant upgrades to the district’s facilities. This includes the installation of a turf football field. Putnam County Athletic Director Andrew Garber says the turf will be beneficial for a variety of reasons.

Garber adds the turf field will also cut down on maintenance.

The district is working with ATG Sports of Festus on the turf project. Improvements don’t just stop at the football field. Garber says the track facilities are also set to see significant upgrades.

Additional improvements are planned for the facilities surrounding the football field and track.

Improvements are also scheduled for Putnam County High School’s softball and baseball fields. The improvements to the football and softball facilities are expected to be completed by the start of the upcoming fall season.
