Proximity to Home Leads Magruder to Salisbury Head Football Job

The Salisbury Panthers are turning to a rival alum as their next head football coach. After spending the last three years as Southwest Livingston’s 8-Man head football coach, Oren Magruder was hired during last Thursday’s school board meeting. The Westran alum couldn’t pass on an opportunity to return closer to home.

Magruder recently guided the Wildcats to their first 8-Man Football championship last fall. The 8-Man Football coach of the year said it was a difficult decision to leave the school which gave him his first head coaching job.

Magruder takes over a Salisbury program which has had only five wins over the last four years. When he played at Westran, it was during the pre Curtis Jasper era when the Hornets won four games in three years.

Magruder replaces Mitchell Green, who resigned last December after coaching the Panthers the last seven years. You can hear more from new Salisbury head football coach Oren Magruder Friday morning on Magic City Sports Talk.
