Proposed Animal Waste Facility Prompted Approval Of An Ordinance

A proposed animal waste facility near Jacksonville prompted the Randolph County Commission to pass a solid waste ordinance last week that prohibits any solid waste dumping site from being within one mile of a residence and cannot be less than two miles from a city or village. Presiding Commisioner Sid Conklin says the measure was put before attorneys before action was taken.

There is already a basin dug for the proposed facility. Conklin isn’t sure what happens next at that site.

Conklin says the Commission has consulted with the Randolph County Health Department and will attend that board’s next meeting on September 26th.
