Missouri School Boards Association Spokesman Brent Ghan was on hand earlier this week, when a proposal was brought forward that would significantly increase teacher salaries.

Ghan says Missouri’s starting teacher salary ranks 49th in the country.

Ghan says the state board has not taken any action on the proposal, and at this point, the MSBA does not have an official position on it.

Ghan says the State Board of Education will have a conference call prior to Christmas to discuss legislative priorities. Prefiling of bills for the session began earlier this week, with the gavel sounding marking the beginning of the legislative session on January 8th.
