Ten innovative products and practices that rural counties and communities can implement to improve the condition and increase the lifespan of their bridges were recently identified by the Soy Transportation Coalition. Executive Director Mike Steenhoek explains that one of the suggested treatments involves the very commodity that many farmers haul over these bridges.

Steenhoek says many of the innovations for repairing or replacing bridges are not new concepts.

Mike Steenhoek of the Soy Transportation Coalition says a panel of transportation engineers and experts from 13 states compiled and analyzed the list put forward by the group. Their report is available on the coalition’s website.
