As temperatures begin to drop this weekend, the type of precipitation will change. Jimmy Barham is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill.

A Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 6 pm Friday evening to midnight Saturday night for Carroll, Chariton, Cooper, Howard, Linn, Macon, Pettis, Putnam, Saline, Sullivan,  and Randolph Counties.

Temperatures will begin to drop late Friday evening into early Saturday morning. Barham said as those temperatures begin to trend downward, the change in precipitation begins.

The majority of ice will end between 10 and 11 am Saturday morning, with a total accumulation according to Barham between a tenth and a quarter of an inch. He explains why the range is so wide while talking about the potential amount of snow we may see.

We will monitor the weekend weather as well here at Regional Radio, keeping the area up to date on weather conditions as this system moves through.
