Pieper Wood Home Run Leads La Plata Back to State Semifinals

La Plata used three sixth-inning runs to defeat Atlanta 3-1 in a Class 1 quarterfinal Saturday. Atlanta took a 1-0 lead in the first on a sac fly by Mati Pinkston. The score held until the sixth when Claire Coy led off the inning with a walk. Olivia Coy sent her home.

Atlanta’s season ends at 22-4. La Plata moves to 25-7 and will play St. Elizabeth in the state semifinals Friday morning at 11. The game will be broadcast on KIRK with pregame coverage starting at 10:45.
