Peaceful Protest Takes Place in Moberly

A group of about 40 walked from a parking lot on North Morley to the Moberly Police Department and then to the Municipal AuditoriumpParking lot Thursday afternoon in a peaceful protest following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Moberly’s Jason Lowry organized the gathering of the Mid Missouri Color Blind Movement.

A moment of silence was held at the police department, and local pastor Tim Fugate offered a prayer.

Moberly Police Chief Troy Link understands why the demonstration took place.

His thoughts are echoed by Randolph County Sheriff Mark Nichols.

Similar peaceful protests have taken place at several other local communities over the past few days.
