A Paris native will spend the next year as an ambassador for Missouri Pork. Aly Francis was selected Tuesday as a Youth Pork Ambassador, where she will participate in several industry events. Francis is currently majoring in animal science and ag communications at Oklahoma State University. She’s recently interned for an area co-op and worked at sale barns in the region. Francis is also the assistant manager in production, exhibition and marketing for her family farm, where they raise lambs, boer goats, and run a cow/calf operation. She’ll receive a $1,000 scholarship at the end of her time as a pork ambassador.
Missouri Pork also announced a $250 scholarship for a senior at Green City High School. Tanner Tipton will receive $250 from the association. Tipton has worked for Triple T Farms caring for livestock, and is active in her FFA chapter and 4-H Club. She plans to attend North Central Missouri College this fall, with plans to transfer to the University of Missouri in Columbia to obtain a degree in agriculture with a minor in journalism.
