Palmyra’s Perfect Season Ends in State Semis

The top ranked Palmyra Panthers saw their season come to a close with a 31-14 loss to St. Pius X in the Class 2 semifinals. The Panthers only had 60 yards of total offense and trailed 14-0 with 17 seconds left in the first half before a miraculous turn of events.

Scott Lunte with the calls on Superstation KRES and centralmoinfo.com. The two-point conversion after the second touchdown was good to cap off a 14 point swing in 12 seconds. Coach Kevin Miles said the sequence had his team feeling good at the halftime break.

St. Pius scored on its first possession of the second half to take the lead for good. Jack Mosh threw for 144 yards, two touchdowns and had 50 yards on the ground. David Deters led with 93 receiving yards and a touchdown. Robbie Sharp had both a rushing and receiving touchdown. St. Pius started every first quarter drive in Palmyra territory. Miles said his team wasn’t as prepared as they should’ve been.

Palmyra ends its season 12-1. St Pius moves to 12-0 and advances to the Class 2 Show-Me Bowl to take on Lamar. You can hear the full postgame interview with Kevin Miles below.
