Palmyra Scholar Bowl Falls to Fair Grove in Class 3 Title Match
The Palmyra Panthers bid for the Class 3 Scholar Bowl state title fell a little short Friday afternoon. The Panthers were victorious in their semifinal by defeating Cole Camp 280-200. However, in the effort to win their first-ever Scholar Bowl state title, Palmyra fell to Fair Grove in the championship game 340-230. Palmyra’s only previous appearance in the State Final Four for Scholar Bowl came in 2019 where they finished third.
Kirksville will be the final local team to compete for a Scholar Bowl state title this weekend. They will face Ladue in a Class 5 semifinal at 1:00 this afternoon. North Shelby is the lone area team to win a state title so far in 2021, having won the Class 1 title with a victory Thursday over Lutheran Kansas City. Van-Far also competed Thursday in Class 2. The Indians settled for third with a win over Summersville.
