One Dead, One Injured in Marion County Accident

One person is dead and another is seriously injured following an accident involving an ambulance in Marion County. The accident occurred at 12:20 Sunday afternoon on Highway 61 in Palmyra, north of West Main Cross Street. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2016 Ford Escape being driven by 93-year old Willard Leverett of Middletown and an ambulance driven by 31-year old Kyle Bowman of Bowling Green were southbound on Highway 61 when Leverett attempted to make a left turn in front of Bowman’s ambulance, resulting in a collision. Leverett’s passenger, 87-year old Gloria J. Leverett was transported to Quincy where she was pronounced dead a short while later. Willard Leverett suffered serious injuries and was also transported to Quincy for treatment. Bowman was uninjured in the accident.
