One Dead in Accident on I-70 East of Columbia

The Boone County Fire Protection District reports that Assistant Chief Bryant Gladney was killed while he was responding to the first accident along I-70 west of Columbia this morning. The district says Gladney and Boone County Fire District units and a University Hospital ambulance were at the scene of a box truck on its side, when a truck hit his vehicle at a high rate of speed, the ambulance, and the original box truck near mile marker 135. Gladney was pronounced dead at University Hospital a short time later. MoDOT now reports westbound I-70 has reopened.
