October 2022 Freeman Insurance Players of the Game

10/29 Canton vs Polo Class 1 Softball Championship Game: Canton junior catcher Kinsey Biggerstaff went 2-2 at the plate with two singles and drew a key walk to extend Canton’s four-run fifth inning as the Lady Tigers claimed the Class 1 state title with a 4-2 win over Polo.

10/29 Marceline vs Sherwood Class 2 Softball Championship Game: Marceline senior second baseman Emmy Smithhisler went 2-3 with two singles, including an RBI hit in the sixth inning to tie the game, as Marceline went on to win 3-2 to claim their second straight state title.

10/28 Salisbury vs Marion C. Early Class 1 Softball 3rd Place Game: Salisbury senior Jaden Howard closed out her varsity softball career with an RBI double as the Lady Panthers finished the season fourth in the state with an 8-1 loss to Marion C. Early.

10/28 Salisbury vs Polo Class 1 Softball Semifinal: Salisbury sophomore catcher Julia Sloan went 2-4 with a single and a double as the Lady Panthers’ rally fell short in a 6-5 defeat to Polo.

10/28 Canton vs Marcion C. Early Class 1 Softball Semifinal: Canton senior second baseman Nariah Clay led the offensive charge for the Lady Tigers with a solo home run as the Lady Tigers rallied for a 3-2 victory.

10/28 Marceline vs Eugene Class 2 Softball Semifinal: Marceline senior pitcher Cassi Rodgers struck out eight Eugene hitters while allowing one run on three hits as Marceline advanced with a 7-1 win.  Rodgers also went 1-5 at the plate with a single and a run scored in the win.

10/28 Marceline at Brookfield Class 1 District 7 1st Round Football: Brookfield junior quarterback Colton Parn went 18-23 for 202 yards and ran the ball 10 times for 58 yards.  He accounted for three Bulldogs touchdowns and ran in the winning two-point conversion in overtime as Brookfield defeated Bell Game rival Marceline 30-29.

10/28 Lathrop at Macon Class 2 District 8 1st Round Football: Macon senior receiver Boston Douglas hauled in four receptions for 52 yards and two touchdowns as the Tigers rolled Lathrop 35-8.

10/27 Salisbury at Westran Class 1 District 6 1st Round Football: Westran senior Langden Kitchen had four catches for 62 yards and a touchdown while also making multiple tackles for loss on the defensive side to help lead the Hornets to a 16-14 victory.

10/22 New Franklin at Salisbury Class 1 Softball Quarterfinal: Salisbury senior pitcher Jaden Howard struck out eight batters while allowing one run on five hits to help lead Salisbury to a 3-1 win over New Franklin.  Howard also went 1-4 with a single at the plate in the win.

10/22 Braymer at Canton Class 1 Softball Quarterfinal: Canton sophomore Allie Ruffcorn went 2-3 with two singles including a two-run single with two outs in the first inning to give the Lady Tigers an early 2-0 lead on their way to a 10-0 victory over Braymer.

10/21 Centralia at Macon football: Macon senior quarterback MyKel Linear scored on a two-yard run with 3:30 remaining to lead Macon to a 20-14 victory.  For the game Linear ran for 108 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries.  He was also 16-22 passing for 98 yards in the win.

10/21 Salisbury at Westran football: Westran senior Langden Kitchen celebrated senior night on both sides of the ball as he created havoc in the Salisbury backfield with multiple sacks and tackles for loss.  Offensively he caught his first touchdown pass of the season and added both a successful 2-point conversion run and reception as the Hornets rolled 44-0.

10/21 Jefferson City at Moberly football: Jefferson City senior Rodney Wilson Jr. ran the ball seven times for 208 yards and one touchdown as the Jays routed Moberly 58-14.

10/20 Elsberry at Marceline Class 2 Softball Quarterfinal: Marceline senior pitcher Cassi Rodgers pitched the full seven innings allowing three runs on eight hits while striking out eight.  She also helped her own cause at the plate by going 2-3 with a game-tying two-run home run and put the Lady Tigers ahead by drawing a bases-loaded walk.

10/19 Canton at La Plata Class 1 Softball Sectional: Canton sophomore Macy Glasgow went 2-2 with a two-run home run, a single, and three RBIs as Canton defeated La Plata 12-0.

10/19 Silex at Salisbury Class 1 Softball Sectional: Salisbury senior Kaisen Carter went 3-3 with two singles, a double, and an RBI to help lift Salisbury to a 13-2 win over Silex.

10/17 Mexico at Moberly boys soccer: Mexico junior goalkeeper Emille Scanavino saved a penalty kick in overtime and made two more in the ensuing shootout to help backstop Mexico to a 3-2 shootout victory over Moberly.

10/15 Canton at North Shelby Class 1 District 9 Championship Softball Game: Canton junior pitcher Emma Hultz got the win in the circle as she pitched eight-and-two-thirds innings while allowing two runs on eight hits and struck out nine North Shelby batters as the Lady Tigers captured their fourth straight district title.

10/14 Harrisburg at Fayette football: Harrisburg junior receiver Hunter Cole hauled in three catches for 68 yards and three touchdowns to help lift the Bulldogs to a 30-24 win and their first Lewis & Clark Conference title in program history.

10/14 Macon at Monroe City football: Monroe City junior Waylon DeGrave had a 69-yard touchdown run on the third play from scrimmage and added a 51-yard scoring run in the second half as the Panthers rolled past the Tigers 32-8 in the battle of the unbeatens.

10/14 Mexico at Moberly football: Moberly senior quarterback Collin Huffman was 9-12 passing for 96 yards and two TDs and ran for 65 yards in the Spartans 28-14 win over Mexico.

10/7 Macon at South Shelby football: Macon senior receiver Bryant Carpenter had seven receptions for 163 yards and a touchdown while also making several key plays on defense to help lift the Tigers to a 40-26 win over South Shelby.

10/7 St. Paul Lutheran at North Shelby football: North Shelby junior Amos Fredrickson had 29 carries for 297 yards and two rushing touchdowns as North Shelby fell to St. Paul Lutheran 52-24.

10/7 Moberly at Hannibal football: Hannibal junior Aneyas Williams racked up 249 total yards and three touchdowns in Hannibal’s 53-7 win over Moberly.
