NWS Wind Damage Survey Results for Friday Storms Near Monroe-Ralls Line

 

The National Weather Service in St. Louis has released wind damage survey results that reveal the strength of the storms that struck eastern Monroe and western Ralls County on Friday night. The survey revealed maximum estimated wind speeds of 60-80 miles per hour in those locations with isolated areas around Perry near 90 miles per hour. Blackjack Marina estimates $1 million in damage to the boat dock and ramp area. Power lines and poles were broken, trees uprooted, and several structures received damage.

The National Weather Service reports straight line winds resulted in a damage path that was up to 10 miles wide through western Ralls County and eastern Monroe County extending from Rensselaer to Monroe City, south across eastern Mark Twain Lake and through Perry.
