Northwestern R-1 School District; Chariton County Communities Recognized for Train Derailment Response

Earlier this week Northwestern R-1 Superintendent Dr. Eric Hoyt traveled to Washington D.C. on behalf of the school district and Chariton County communities to receive the Ready Communities National Service Award. This award was in recognition of their response to last year’s deadly Amtrak train derailment in Mendon. Congressman Sam Graves attended to receive the award as a representative of the community. The award is being displayed in the Northwestern High School trophy case for public viewing.
