Two rounds of thunderstorms didn’t provide enough moisture for parts of Northeast Missouri, with the northwest quarter of Callaway County falling into moderate drought. The weekly US Drought Monitor also shows abnormal dryness now covering nearly all of Audrain, Boone and Ralls counties, along with western Pike, central and eastern Callaway, northern Moniteau, and the eastern halves of Cooper and Howard counties. Conditions for the rest of Missouri are unchanged, including severe drought in the western fourth of Barton County. 1.8 percent of Missouri is in moderate or severe drought, along with 7.1 percent of the state in abnormal dryness.
