During Wednesday night’s meeting of the Northeast R-4 School Board, Superintendent Darren Rapert announced his retirement. Rapert explains his decision.

During his 28 years in education Rapert filled various roles at Malta Bend, Cuba, and Fayette. His only time spent as superintendent has been the past nine years in Cairo. Rapert says there were multiple factors that made this job attractive.

Rapert’s retirement will take effect July 1st. He discusses the search process the district will undergo to find a new superintendent.

Rapert is just the third superintendent in the last 39 years for the Northeast R-4 School District. His retirement plans include golfing and traveling to watch his niece Reagan play basketball at Wofford College.
