North Shelby’s 22-0 Run Clinches First Girls District Title Appearance Since 04′

The North Shelby Lady Raiders will play for a district championship Friday after defeating Atlanta 58-43 in the Class 1 District 11 semifinals. The Lady Hornets held a 30-29 advantage with a touch over two minutes to go in the first half. The Lady Raiders seized control afterwards with a 22-0 run.

Scott Lunte with the calls on Glory 97.3 and centralmoinfo.com. North Shelby kept the Lady Hornets off the scoreboard for nearly 10 minutes of game time. Coach Landon Daniel said a switch in defense was key to stifling Atlanta’s offense.

The Lady Raiders will play for a district title for the first time since 2004.

Caroline Linberger paced North Shelby with 19 points. Natalie Thrasher and Ava Williams chipped in 15 and 11 points respectively. Atlanta coach Miranda White said the tempo slowing hurt them.

Sophomore Kyley Magers finished with a team-high 14 points. Atlanta’s season closes at 13-7. North Shelby improves to 16-5 and plays Marion County Friday for the Class 1 District 11 title.
