North Shelby Hosts Green City in Sectional Rematch

For the second straight year, North Shelby will face Green City in a Class 1 Sectional. The Raiders got the better of the Gophers last season with a 5-1 win in Green City. North Shelby brings an 11-6 record into this year’s matchup. They had to rally late for an 8-7 win against Atlanta in the district championship game. North Shelby coach Scott Gaines says that performance sums up the mentality of his team.

The Raiders won their three district games by a combined total of four runs. Cade Fallert led the Raiders’ offensive efforts in the tournament by batting over .600. He leads the team in RBIs with 24. Gaines says they’re anticipating a great atmosphere at home.

Green City used its pitching to capture its fifth straight district title with a 1-0 win over Princeton. Green City coach Dale Whitacre says they’re seeking redemption against North Shelby this season.

William Woods signee Grant O’Haver leads the Gophers at the plate with three home runs, 28 RBIs and a .462 batting average. His younger brother Jaden is the team’s top pitcher with a 6-1 record and a 2.66 ERA. Whitacre says they’ve been working on the little things leading up to this game.
