North and South Clash in Shelby County Showdown

North Shelby hosts South Shelby Thursday night in their annual regular season softball matchup. The two teams met this past Saturday in the third place game of the Paris Tournament with South Shelby coming up with an 8-7 walkoff win. South Shelby coach Sarah Elliott discusses the rivalry with North Shelby.
The Ladybirds are also coming off a 6-3 extra-inning victory over Knox County on Tuesday night. Elliott says they’re focusing on the fundamentals heading into the rematch with the Lady Raiders.
The Lady Raiders responded to the loss to South Shelby with a 5-2 win Monday over Schuyler County. Coach Amber Klusmeyer is looking for some areas of improvement in the rematch with the Ladybirds.
The Lady Raiders enter play with a 10-6-2 record. Sophomore Harper Copenhaver is among their top hitters with a .426 batting average, three home runs, and 21 RBIs. Klusmeyer says they’re striving for consistency as the postseason approaches.
