Nominations Open For Missouri Leopold Conservation Award

Missouri Farmers Care, the Sand County Foundation, and additional sponsors have opened the nomination process for the 2023 Missouri Aldo Leopold Conservation Award. The $10,000 prize recognizes farm families who are implementing sustainable practices including cover crops, terracing, and other conservation practices that benefit soil health and wildlife. Missouri Farmers Care executive director Ashley McCarty says the nomination process is an opportunity for farmers to tell their story when it comes to conservation.
McCarty says previous honorees of the Leopold Conservation Award have been among the most active farmers in Missouri and most prolific supporters of conservation practices, including last year’s winners from Clifton Hill.
Applications for the 2023 Missouri Leopold Conservation Award and additional details are available on the Missouri Farmers Care website. The deadline to apply is June 30th. This year’s winner will be announced in November during the Governor’s Conference on Agriculture.
