For the past several years Drew Nier has guided the Meadville boys’ basketball team to postseason glory including a state championship in 2015. This season Nier will take on an extra challenge as he will also serve as the head coach for the Meadville Lady Eagles. Nier says he already has a significant amount of familiarity with the girls.

Nier had the opportunity to coach approximately 30 games that the team played over the summer. He says that time over the summer gave the girls the opportunity to adjust to his style of play and coaching.

Nier plans to implement a strong man-to-man defense as well as an occasional press with the Lady Eagles. He takes over a Meadville squad that went 21-5 last season and fell in a district championship game to Green City. Nier says he has high hopes for this year’s team.

Meadville returns the majority of their starters from last year, including seniors Kiera Holcer and Krysta Meyers. You can hear interviews with area girls basketball coaches on our Tipoff Show Monday night beginning at 5:35 on Superstation KRES and centralmoinfo.com.
