The National Federation of State High School Associations held a media availability with Executive Director Dr. Karissa Niehoff Monday. Niehoff outlined the organization’s desire to hold events in 2020-21.

Niehoff cited a Wisconsin study of about 3,000 student-athletes that concluded the absence of school and co-curricular programs was the likely cause of more than three times the average depression cases.

The NFHS executive director said the national organization will assist schools who limit attendance.

Niehoff elaborated on the video upgrades.

Niehoff noted some states have adjusted the sports calendar, but Missouri is among the states with sports scheduled for their typical season. MSHSAA Executive Director Dr. Kerwin Urhahn is the NFHS president.
