New North Shelby Girls Coach Parsons Excited for Return to Alma Mater
North Shelby hired Chris Parsons as its head girls basketball coach last week. The 1994 North Shelby graduate says he’s excited to return to his alma mater.
Parsons brings 15 years of experience, including an eight-year run with Palmyra where he racked up 171 wins, three district championships, and two state quarterfinal appearances. After resigning in 2020, Parsons turned his attention to coaching Palmyra boys and girls golf where helped lead the boys team to the Class 2 State Championship last year.
Before going to Palmyra, Parsons served as the head boys basketball coach at Green Ridge for two years, then as the Smith-Cotton girls basketball coach for five years. Parsons will take over a North Shelby girls program that made a quarterfinals appearance in 2021 and collected another 14 wins this past season.
Parsons replaces Landon Daniel, who will become the principal at North Shelby High School next school year. You can hear the full interview with North Shelby Lady Raiders head coach Chris Parsons below.
