New Franklin’s Multiple Rallies Not Enough to Overpower Eugene

The fifth ranked New Franklin Bulldogs lost to Eugene 70-64 in overtime in a Class 2 sectional contest at Helias in Jefferson City. The Bulldogs never held a tie or lead at any point in regulation. The Bulldogs trailed by two to the Eagles in the final few seconds.

Going into halftime, New Franklin was looking at a deficit of four, but Perkins had some magic in him on in bound with .4 seconds.

The senior would finish with a team high 21 points. The Bulldogs managed to cut the deficit multiple times to one, but could never get the go-ahead bucket until overtime. CAC MVP Gavin Bishop finished with 18 points in his final game. The Bulldogs finish their season 24-2.

Eugene was paced by senior all-state point guard Tre Kempker’s 26 points. The Eagles improve to 20-6 and face Milan in Saturday’s Class 2 Quarterfinal at MACC.
