The New Franklin Bulldogs square off against Eugene in Class 2 sectionals Wednesday at Helias Catholic High School in Jefferson City. The Bulldogs come into the game 27-1 and are the fifth ranked team in Class 2. The Bulldogs fell to Skyline in last year’s sectional round. Coach Ross Dobson says they learned a lot from that game one year ago.

New Franklin defeated Smithton 59-45 in Saturday’s district championship game. Senior Gavin Bishop was named the CAC MVP Monday morning and averages 18.6 points per game. The 19-6 Eugene Eagles nixed New Haven 56-38 in their district title game. Dobson says New Franklin must keep senior all-state point guard Tre Kempker in front of them.

Kempker averages about 18 points and 10 rebounds per game. Long time Eagles coach Craig Engelbrecht scouts New Franklin.

The Eagles are in their first state sectional since 2014. Coverage of New Franklin and Eugene in Class 2 sectionals begins at 7:30pm Wednesday on 99.9 The Captain and centralmoinfo.com. Scott Lunte has the call.
