The Missouri Department of Agriculture is warning Missourians to not open or plant any seeds that arrive in the mail unannounced. In a statement to Regional Radio, a department spokesperson reported that the department has received at least five reports over the weekend of residents receiving seeds they didn’t order. The department asks residents who receive such packages to not open them, and to not plant any of the seeds if the packaging has been opened. They should also report the potential agricultural smuggling on USDA’s website. State ag officials are monitoring the situation and assisting USDA in their investigation.
