Multi-Tiered Systems of Support Topic of Discussion for Kirksville School Board
The Kirksville School Board met Wednesday night for a work session. One of the topics of the work session was to further discuss districtwide implementation of the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). This system involves using assessments and data collection to determine the level of academic support needed for individual students. Kirksville School Superintendent Bob Webb says this implementation is critical to getting the district on the same page.
Since being hired as Kirksville Superintendent last year Webb has been focused on getting the district up to speed with MTSS. The Kirksville School District had been phasing in the system prior to Webb’s arrival. Webb says it is important to fully implement MTSS.
For Kirksville, Webb says they want to focus on five different components related to MTSS implementation.
Webb plans to continue to work with the Kirksville School Board through the spring and summer months as they gradually work these different components into the district.
