MRMC Cardiologist Dr. Dana Valencia joined the Doctor’s Office Program on KWIXLand This Morning last week to discuss the effects of diabetes.

Valencia says diabetes and heart disease can correlate, and he outlined ways to keep those diseases from getting worse.

Valencia highlighted problems that can be caused by the two diseases.

Valencia says people with diabetes are 50 percent more likely to die from heart diseases than people without it, and says using lifestyle modifications such as exercise and keeping a healthy diet are crucial for those with diabetes.
