Motorists Reminded to Slow Down and Plan for Extra Travel Time During First Winter Storm

The first measurable snowfall of the season is set to hit the listening area tonight with 1-4 inches expected to fall. The timeline of the storm could affect tomorrow morning’s commute. The Missouri Department of Transportation reminds drivers to slow down and give themselves extra time due to potentially hazardous road conditions. MoDOT crews will be out ahead of the storm with their primary focus on interstates and other major highways. Once the storm ends crews will begin to focus on lower volume roads and letter state highways. In Kirksville, city crews will pre-treat some roads but won’t begin plowing streets until 7 am tomorrow. Motorists are reminded they can check the state’s road conditions on the Traveler Information Map at modot.org.
