Monroe City Water Utility Discussions Continue

Monroe City is considering either producing its own water or buying the water from an outside source. Mayor Jerry Potterfield says they’re thinking long term when it comes to the city’s water supply.
Monroe City currently uses PeopleService as its water utility contractor to run the water production plant. The city is considering using the Clarence Cannon Wholesale Water Commission as the wholesale provider. Potterfield says he can see the board of aldermen going either way.
Further discussion will continue at the board meeting Thursday.
