Monroe City Greets Centralia As Schools Battle For Top Spot in CCC
A pair of undefeateds convene in Monroe City Friday to battle for a share of the lead in the Clarence Cannon Conference. The 3-0 Panthers welcome 2-0 Centralia. Monroe City is coming off a season high 62 points against South Shelby, and the offense is averaging 47 points a game. Despite the early success, coach David Kirby had grades to hand out for both his offense and defensive lines.
Monroe City has 413 yards of offense per game and pick up 277 yards a game from the ground. Last week, Centralia’s defense shut out a Brookfield team that combined for 92 points in their first two games. Coach Tyler Forsee says Monroe City provides different troubles offensively.
Meanwhile, Kirby believes his running backs face one of their more physical tests all season.
Forsee also thinks controlling the line of scrimmage will be a key factor.
Centralia won last year’s match 35-6. Pregame coverage on Monroe City and Centralia begins at 6:25 on Glory 97 and centralmoinfo.com. Scott Lunte and Austin Ward have the call.
