Monroe City and Palmyra Looking to Build Momentum in Rivalry Game
Monroe City and Palmyra will faceoff at Flower City Park in Palmyra for an early-season Clarence Cannon Conference baseball clash this evening. Both teams are coming off comeback victories on Tuesday. Monroe City fell behind 7-1 against Missouri Military Academy before rallying for a 10-8 victory. The win improved Monroe City’s record to 2-3 on the season. They will be looking to snap a 12-game losing streak to Palmyra. Monroe City head coach Derek Vanlandingham knows Palmyra will be a tough test for his team.
Facing a tough opening slate of games, Palmyra stumbled to an 0-7 start to the season. However, they come in with two straight wins, which included rallying from a 17-1 deficit to defeat Clark County 20-17 on Tuesday. Palmyra head coach Mark Loman says his team needs to be ready to play following the dramatic win.
The game was moved from Monroe City to Palmyra due to wet field conditions. It will air on KTCM 97.3 and centralmoinfo.com, beginning with pregame coverage at 5:45. Colin Schowe will have the play-by-play.
