MoDOT will host a public meeting November 9th to share information and receive feedback from residents as work progresses on MoDOT’s corridor safety study of BNSF’s Marceline Subdivision. The rail corridor carries freight trains and Amtrak’s Southwest Chief passenger train. During the public meeting, MoDOT and the engineering consultant will share final recommendations identified during a recent safety evaluation of the freight and passenger rail corridor. MoDOT invites the public to share feedback and insights about the recommendations targeting potential safety improvements for both passenger vehicles and trains. The public meeting will take place from 6 until 7:30 on November 9th, at Northwestern School District’s Commons Area, in Mendon. A short presentation will be held at 6 followed by an open house, where residents will be able to ask questions and provide additional information to MoDOT, Chariton County officials, and consultant staff.
