Moberly Teams Meet Surging Kirksville Squads for Third Time

Moberly basketball visits Kirksville for an NCMC doubleheader Tuesday on KRES. The matchup in Kirksville marks the third game between the schools on both the girls and boys sides. Both Kirksville teams are 2-0 after wins at Moberly and in the Macon Tournament.

Kirksville’s boys beat Moberly 85-53 in the Macon Tournament championship after a 72-59 victory in December. Moberly head coach Cord Hagedorn says it’s critical the 7-10 Spartans test the 12-2 Tigers this time around.

Tigers head coach Tyler Martin shares defensive keys in a third contest opposite Spartan standout Jaisten Payne.

Payne produced 24 points on 18 shots in the Macon finals.

Moberly’s girls lost to Kirksville 68-53 in a rescheduled game last Tuesday. Tony Vestal’s Lady Spartans also surrendered 15 threes in a 78-44 defeat in the Macon Tournament consolation finals.

The 7-11 Lady Spartans seek to snap a three-game NCMC losing streak. Nick Totta’s 8-8 Lady Tigers boast wins in five of their last six contests.

Coverage of the Moberly at Kirksville doubleheader begins after the Truman broadcast on KRES and centralmoinfo.com. Eric Duick has the call.
