MOBERLY STOPS KIRKSVILLE TWO-POINT ATTEMPT IN FINAL MINUTE
Eric Duick with the call of the Tigers’ failed two-point conversion on KWIX and centralmoinfo.com. Moberly’s Dakotah Courtney then recovered the onside kick. Kirksville’s game-tying two-point attempt followed senior Paxton Dempsay’s 21-yard touchdown pass to Foster Janes. The duo also connected for the game’s first touchdown late in the first quarter, but Janes’ extra point flew wide left to force the eventual two-point try in the fourth. Cody McDowell’s Moberly defense held the Kirksville record-setting quarterback Dempsay to an unofficial 17-for-39 for 266 yards.

McDowell’s junior quarterback Dominic Stoneking provided Moberly’s first points with two and a half minutes left in the first quarter.
Junior Jarrett Kinder added a nine-yard touchdown run on the first play after a Kirksville fumble with five minutes left in the first half. The 1-7 Tigers held McDowell’s Spartans scoreless in the second half.
Four Spartans rushed for 40-plus yards. Stoneking paced the ground game with 83 yards. 5-3 Moberly is 2-2 in the NCMC ahead of rival Mexico’s visit Friday. 1-7 Kirksville falls to 1-3 in the NCMC before a week nine contest at Marshall.
