Moberly Set For Rematch With Harrisburg

Moberly will visit Harrisburg Friday night for a varsity basketball doubleheader just a week after both sets of squads met in the California Tournament. The Moberly Lady Spartans were victorious over Harrisburg 50-41 in the opening round of the tournament. Asa Fanning led the Lady Spartans in that contest with 17 points. Moberly girl’s coach Tony Vestal says they’ll have to be ready for anything from Harrisburg’s defense.

Both teams bring matching 9-7 records into the game. The Lady Bulldogs are coming off a 54-51 loss to Marceline despite holding a 13-point lead at halftime. Harrisburg girl’s coach Ryan Richardson says controlling the tempo will be key.

On the boy’s side, Harrisburg beat Moberly last week in the consolation game of the California Tournament 70-53. The 2-11 Spartans most recent outing was a narrow 68-66 loss to state-ranked Fulton. The Spartans shot 14-31 from three-point range in that game. Moberly boy’s coach Brett Boyer says the offense is starting to pick-up.

They face a Harrisburg team that features a balanced attack with four different players averaging in double figures. Braden Wyatt leads the way with 14.4 points-per-game for the Bulldogs. Harrisburg boy’s coach Kyle Fisher says rebounding will be a key in the rematch with the Spartans.

The Bulldogs bring an 11-4 record into the game. Tonight’s games will also include Harrisburg’s court warming festivities. Pregame coverage is scheduled to begin at around 6:05 on KRES and centralmoinfo.com. Colin Schowe will have the play-by-play.
