The Moberly Police Department responded to the 500 block of Garfield Avenue around 8:45 on Saturday morning to find a “burglary in progress.” In a press release issued by the Moberly PD, officers arrived at the scene and found a female suspect inside the residence without permission.  The 24-year-old, whose name has not yet been released then attempted to argue with officers, however she was taken into custody a short time later. The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s K9 Unit then conducted a search of the property and quickly determined a man was hiding in the attic. After a short negotiation, the 31-year-old male whose name has not yet been released, was taken into custody without further incident. The two subjects are now being held in the Randolph County Jail pending formal charges by the Randolph County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Several local law enforcement agencies assisted the Moberly PD, including the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department, The Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Moberly Fire Department.
