Moberly Offense Explodes, Fletcher Deals in Win Over Cairo

Moberly baseball scored early and often in a 10-0, five-inning victory over Cairo Friday night. The Spartans scored four in the first, one in the second and five in the fourth.

Fletcher tossed four scoreless innings and has now thrown 16 scoreless frames this season.

Cairo starter Josh Zike was pulled after giving up three straight hits to start the fourth. He was tagged for eight runs but coach Morgan Matthews said he liked the way he pitched.

Nolan Samuel pitched the fifth for Moberly and struck out two in a 1-2-3 inning. It’s the third straight shutout loss for the 8-3 Bearcats.

Moberly moves to 12-4.
