Moberly and Macon basketball continue their early season nonconference Highway 63 rivalry at Moberly Thursday on KIRK. Both the girls and boys contests headed to overtime last year. Moberly girls head coach Tony Vestal says Macon provides a test for the 2-0 Lady Spartans.

The Tigerettes topped Vestal’s Lady Spartans 50-47 last season. Macon dropped to 1-1 this year with a 53-49 loss versus Salisbury Tuesday. Head coach Richard Driscoll is in his first year with the Tigerettes.

Driscoll’s sophomore guard Lexi Miller averages 19 points through two games. The Moberly boys dropped their opener versus Harrisburg in overtime Monday. Spartans head coach Cord Hagedorn explains what he wants to see in the second game for five first-year starters.

Moberly shot 8-25 from the free throw line Monday. Dale Devenport’s 1-1 Macon boys are similarly inexperienced with multiple freshmen in prominent roles. Devenport discusses his takeaways through two appearances.

Macon lost to Salisbury 67-66 Tuesday. Coverage of Thursday’s Moberly and Macon doubleheader on KIRK and centralmoinfo.com starts at 5:45pm with Eric Duick on the call.
