Moberly Girl Scout Troop Leader Faces Child Pornography and Molestation Charges

A Moberly Girl Scout Troop Leader has been charged with three counts of second degree child molestation and one count of possession of child pornography. According to court documents, 43-year-old Shawn Allen McGee is accused of molesting a minor and giving the child cold medicine to induce drowsiness. The child’s mother also found child pornography on his computer in the spring of 2020. A forensic examiner found more than 20 pornographic images of children on his desktop computer. McGee was arrested Monday, and has been released on $40,000 bond, and is scheduled to be arraigned next Monday. Although the incident does not involve a child McGee knew from Girl Scouts, Wendy Whelan, Director of Strategic Engagement for the Girl Scouts of the Missouri Heartland, says it’s understandable that parents would have concerns.

Whelan says the organization is taking appropriate steps, and parents with questions can call 877-312-4764.
