Moberly Man Charged With Two Counts of Felony Harassment
A Moberly man faces multiple harassment charges after separate incidents last week. About 9pm Friday, the Moberly Police Department responded to a request for a well-being check of a female at a residence in the 700 block of Taylor Street. Officers made contact with the reporting individual William “Carlos” Smith, who uttered unintelligible statements and directed officers to individuals who were not present. Officers recognized Smith due to a probable cause for his arrest related to a harassment incident at the same residence last Tuesday. Moberly Police say Smith punched the homeowner’s dog in the first incident, then left the area before officers arrived. Police arrested Smith for Tuesday’s incident whey they found him Friday. Smith also had an active Boone County warrant for trespassing. An investigation of Friday’s incident revealed Smith again caused a disturbance and made the 37-year-old female victim fearful. Authorities charged Smith with two counts of first degree felony harassment with a $20,000 cash only bond. Smith remained at the Randolph County Justice Center as of Saturday night.
