A Moberly man was arrested after being involved in a motor vehicle accident early Sunday morning. Moberly Police responded to a report of the accident at the intersection of Emerson Street and Reed Street. Witnesses stated that a single vehicle struck a utility pole guide wire and then left the scene of the accident. Thanks to witness help officers located the vehicle in the 600 block of Fisk Avenue. They made contact with a 28-year old Moberly man, who attempted to flee from officers on foot. However, officers were able to place him under arrest for felony leaving the scene of an accident. During the investigation, officers determined the man was intoxicated in an alcohol and drugged condition combination. Officers located alcohol containers, suspected ecstasy, and marijuana. As a result, he was also charged with driving while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance. The man was transported to the Randolph County Justice Center and placed on a twelve-hour custody hold and a bond of 10,000 dollars cash or surety. He has since posted bond.
