Moberly Hosts Kirksville in NCMC Softball Opener

The Moberly Lady Spartans will host the Kirksville Lady Tigers at Omar Bradley Field Thursday night in each team’s NCMC opener. The Lady Spartans come in with a 1-1 record following a 6-5 win Tuesday over defending Class 2 state champion Marceline. Moberly coach Drew Hunt says it doesn’t get any easier matching-up with Kirksville.

The Lady Spartans snapped an eight-game losing streak to Kirksville with an 11-1 win at home last season. Hunt explains the biggest key to victory this time around against Kirksville.

The Kirksville Lady Tigers made an early statement by taking first place at the Boonville Tournament over the weekend. They enter play against Moberly with a 4-1 record. Kirksville coach Derek Allen explains the keys to their early success.

The Lady Tigers have stolen 20 bases and are hitting 400 as a team. Allen says they’re looking for a better trip to Moberly this season.
