Moberly Guts Out Road Win Over Osage

After trailing for much of the first three quarters, the Moberly Spartans gutted out a 21-14 win over the Osage Indians. Trailing 14-13, Moberly took the lead early in the final quarter.

Austin Ward with the call on KWIX and Osage bled five minutes off the clock on its final possession and marched to the Spartan 17 in the waning minutes.

Indians quarterback Maverick Trusty connected on two touchdown passes to Dayne Depee in the first half. Moberly got a big score through the air.

Tiger scored on a fourth down six-yard rush earlier in the quarter. The Spartans fumbled the ball away on their first two drives, the first of which turned into a touchdown. Osage’s other scoring drive included two Moberly third down penalties that gave the Indians a first down. Moberly coach Cody McDowell says that has to improve.

McDowell says that improvement starts in practice.

Osage falls to 0-2. The Spartans are 2-0 and host Winfield in Week 3.
